Atal Medical and Research University (AMRU) is a state government university established under the Himachal Pradesh University of Health Sciences Act, 2017. It is located in Ner Chowk, Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, India. It is the first university in the state to specialize in medicine and health sciences.
AMRU offers various undergraduate and postgraduate courses in nursing, medical technology, pharmacy and ayurveda. Among them, B.Sc. Medical Technology (Paramedical) and B. Pharmacy Ayurveda are two popular courses that require an entrance test for admission.
B.Sc. Medical Technology (Paramedical) is a three-year course that trains students in various aspects of medical laboratory technology, radiography and imaging technology, anesthesia and operation theatre technology, and ophthalmic technology.
B. Pharmacy Ayurveda is a four-year course that teaches students about the principles and practices of ayurvedic medicine, pharmacology, pharmacognosy, pharmaceutics, quality control and standardization of ayurvedic drugs.
The entrance test for these courses is conducted by AMRU every year. The eligibility criteria for applying for the entrance test are as follows:
- The candidate must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as compulsory subjects and English as an elective subject.
- The candidate must have obtained at least 50% marks in aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (40% for SC/ST/OBC candidates).
- The candidate must be a bonafide resident of Himachal Pradesh or a ward of an employee of the state government or central government or autonomous body posted in Himachal Pradesh.
- The candidate must be at least 17 years of age on or before 31st December of the year of admission.
The entrance test consists of 100 multiple choice questions covering Physics, Chemistry and Biology of 10+2 level. The duration of the test is two hours. There is no negative marking for wrong answers. The merit list is prepared based on the marks obtained in the entrance test.
The application process for the entrance test is online through the official website of AMRU (https://amruhp.ac.in/). The candidates have to fill the online application form, upload scanned copies of required documents, pay the application fee and take a printout of the confirmation page. The application fee is Rs. 2000/- for general candidates and Rs. 1000/- for SC/ST/OBC candidates.
The admit card for the entrance test is issued online by AMRU. The candidates have to download it from the website and carry it along with a valid photo ID proof to the examination center. The examination center details are also available on the website.
The entrance test for B.Sc. Medical Technology (Paramedical) and B. Pharmacy Ayurveda courses for the academic session 2023-24 is scheduled to be held on 25th June 2023 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
